Phoenix Suns take 3-1 lead over LA Clippers
The Phoenix Suns are one game away from their first NBA Finals since 1993. They took down the LA Clippers on Saturday night by a score of 84-80 to take a 3-1 series lead in the NBA’s Western Conference Finals.
Top performers
Devin Booker was the game’s top scorer with 25 points before fouling out late in the fourth quarter. Paul George struggled from the floor (5-20) but led the way for LA with 23 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists. DeAndre Ayton added 19 points, 22 rebounds and 4 blocks while Chris Paul scored 19 to go with 7 assists.
Gameplay
The Suns led by as many as 16 in this one but, behind a 30-19 third quarter, the Clippers found a way to pull within 3 heading into the final frame. Both teams went cold from that point on, as the Suns and Clippers scored just 15 and 14 points in the fourth quarter, respectively. Down five in the final minute, a layup by Terance Mann and a pair of free throws from George brought the Clippers within one. However, Chris Paul was able to convert on five of his six free throws in the final seven seconds to help Phoenix secure the win.
Series overview
The Suns took the first two games of the series in Phoenix before the Clippers bounced back in game three with a 106-92 home win. After breaking the ice with the series’ first road victory, Phoenix will have a chance to close it out on Monday in game five. The game is set to take place at 9:00 pm Eastern in Phoenix.
The other side of the bracket
Out East, plenty of basketball remains to be played. The Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks are tied at one game apiece after two games in Milwaukee. The winner of that series will take on the winner of Suns-Clippers in the 2021 NBA Finals.
