After the brutality of Bethpage Black, the PGA Tour heads to the more sedate settings of Colonial Country Club this week for the Charles Schwab Challenge.
A number of those who failed to keep pace with Brooks Koepka in Long Island are set to feature and of those involved, Jordan Spieth appears to be trending nicely.
At 25, Speith is incredibly making his seventh appearance in this event and won by three strokes in his home state of Texas in 2016.
Months of talking himself up almost worked out for the three-time major winner at last week’s US PGA Championship as he came home T3.
As well as that win three years ago, Spieth also has a pair of T2s to his name and looks sets to be up there come Sunday.
In contrast to the man above, Francesco Molinari is making his debut at Colonial but is the type of player who adapts well to new courses.
A winner at Bay Hill earlier in the season, Molinari did not perform as he would have liked at Bethpage but his transition to one of the top players in the world means he is always dangerous.
While 16/1 might be a bit tight for him to go all the way, Molinari’s consistency means he cannot be ruled out of the Top European betting.
For those looking for a decent each-way bet, Scott Piercy could be the man.
The 40-year-old is a four-time PGA Tour winner and was T7 in Fort Worth back in 2017, while he has been knocking on the door recently, with T3 or better in two of his last four starts.
A closing 76 took the shine off a decent week at Bethpage but his consistent ball-striking (ranked eighth in GIR) suggests he will be well suited to playing on the banks of the Trinity River.
