Kristina Mladenovic can secure a place in the last four of the Italian Open with a win over Greek hopeful Maria Sakkari and Milwaukee Bucks are tipped to take a 2-0 lead to Toronto in their NBA Eastern Conference Finals.
Mladenovic has picked up some impressive wins in the Italian Open and she can book a semi-final spot by seeing off fellow qualifier Sakkari this evening.
The French star endured a tough 2018 after breaking into the WTA’s top 10 the previous year, but she seems to have finally rediscovered her form in Rome.
Mladenovic has overcome compatriot Caroline Garcia, Belinda Bencic and Ashleigh Barty to reach the last eight – dropping just one set in those three matches – and should be too strong for Sakkari.
Sakkari, 23, is a solid player on clay and did claim the Morocco Open title earlier this month but Mladenovic has the greater experience at this level and that may well prove decisive.
Mladenovic appeals at 37/20 to win 2-0, but I’m going to play this one a little safer and stick with a straightforward win for the 25-year-old.
Milwaukee downed the Raptors 108-100 in Game 1 and can ensure they take a 2-0 series lead to Toronto by beating a -6.5 handicap in the spread tonight.
The Bucks are on a five-game winning streak after seeing off Boston Celtics 4-1 in the previous round, and all five of those wins have been by at least a seven-point margin.
Toronto pair Kyle Lowry and Kawhi Leonard managed 61 points between them in the last game but still ended up losing, and that has to have had an impact on their confidence and game plan.
The Raptors will fancy their chances in Games 3 and 4 in Canada but the Bucks can make home advantage count tonight by claiming another big win.
