Weekend Social Media Reaction

Well what a weekend of sport that was, as Manchester City pipped Liverpool to the Premier League title on a dramatic final day of the season.

Here are some of our picks from the social media reactions on a weekend that will live long in the memory.

City celebrate tremendous title win

Man City were pushed to their limits but their 14th consecutive league win on Sunday against Brighton at the Amex Stadium made sure that Pep Guardiola’s side retained their Premier League crown.

There may well have been a few sore heads on Monday morning but it will be quickly back to work for the champions, as City have an FA Cup final against Watford to look forward to, with the Citizens 4/19 to win against the Hornets.

The Citizens official twitter account provided this iconic picture of striker Sergio Aguero, who is bona fide Premier League royalty for all he has achieved in the English top flight.

Anfield erupts for Salah jr

Liverpool fans rightly applauded their players, who had done so much to try and win the Premier League title, after the final whistle against Wolves on Sunday.

Mohamed Salah, who will be looking to help the Reds win the Champions League final and are 1/1 to do so against Tottenham on June 1, received his golden boot after finishing joint-leading scorer in the division and it seems like goals run in the family.

This video was shared by @RockyKlopp showing the massive cheer the home faithful gave Salah’s young daughter as she scored in front of the Kop.

A round of applause for Sarries

Saracens, who are 5/7 to win the Premiership Grand Final, had another weekend to remember as they managed to secure their third European Champions Cup title in four years with victory over Leinster.

The champagne was flowing at St James’ Park after the full-time whistle but the somewhat muted celebrations caught by @stethomas33 of Sarries and England prop Mako Vunipola had social media giggling.

Mercedes continue dominance

Lewis Hamilton was able to revel on his official twitter account on yet another one-two for the Silver Arrows, as the reigning world champion claimed the chequered flag at the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday.

Mercedes are smashing records each meeting with their dominance and Hamilton, who is 20/33 to retain his world title, was delighted by another success in Barcelona.
