Blues can dent Derby’s promotion bid

Birmingham City can all-but guarantee their Championship status for another year when Derby County visit this afternoon and Indiana Pacers can fight back in the NBA playoff series against Boston Celtics.

Birmingham to win @ 31/20

Birmingham are just four points clear of the drop zone in the Championship after being hit with a nine-point deduction and they can take a big step towards guaranteeing survival by beating Derby County this afternoon.

Blues were held at rock bottom Ipswich last weekend but have been in good form of late at home and have taken four points from automatic promotion-chasers Leeds United and Sheffield United in their last two games at St Andrew’s.

The Rams are battling for a play-off spot but their away form will be a huge concern to manager Frank Lampard. Derby head into this match-up with four defeats in their last five away games and haven’t won in the league on their travels since December, and they look to be set for another defeat on the road today.

Indiana Pacers -3 @ 25/27

Indiana trail their playoff series 2-0 against Boston and they should be able to mount a fight back in the next two games at their Bankers Life Fieldhouse home.

The Pacers were beaten by the Celtics at home towards the end of the regular season but they need a response in Game 3 and should be able to ensure the series heads back to Boston with at least one win in the next two games.

Indiana were strong at home through the regular season with a 29-12 record, and after two fairly close games at TD Garden should be able to make home advantage count by beating a -3 handicap in the spread.
