Ajax to triumph in Turin

Ajax have been outstanding in this season’s Champions League and they could claim another famous scalp by knocking Juventus out of the competition on Tuesday.

The youthful and exuberant Dutch side stunned Real Madrid in the last round and were a little unfortunate to only draw last week’s quarter-final first leg against the Old Lady in Amsterdam 1-1.

Ajax to beat Juventus @ 17/4

The pressure will be on Juve in Turin and, despite the undoubted brilliance of Cristiano Ronaldo, they may well come unstuck if Ajax can replicate the exhilarating brand of football they produced when they won 4-1 in Madrid last month.

Real Madrid clinched a 3-0 victory in Turin at this stage of last season’s Champions League and Juve were indebted to the mercurial Ronaldo in the round of 16 this term when they overturned a 2-0 deficit to knock Atletico Madrid out.

Ajax thrashed Excelsior 6-2 on Saturday and have scored 18 goals in their last four Eredivisie games. They could be playing Juventus at exactly the right time. Dusan Tadic is 17/2 to be the first goalscorer.

Barcelona to keep a clean sheet @ 13/10

Lightning may not strike twice for Manchester United though as they attempt to knock Barcelona out of the competition after losing last week’s first leg at Old Trafford 1-0.

Since their stirring comeback against Paris Saint-Germain in the last round, United have reverted to their Jose Mourinho era performances and they were very fortunate to beat West Ham 2-1 on Saturday.

Barcelona may be top of La Liga but it has not been a vintage season for them and they appear to be relying on Lionel Messi more than ever.

Ernesto Valverde’s side have kept three clean sheets in their last four league games though and remain serene at home – only Real Betis have won at Camp Nou this term.

The current Barcelona team have been functional rather than flamboyant at times this season and that could be the case again on Tuesday with a one-goal victory for the La Liga side available at 21/10.
