Austria can get their bid to reach Euro 2020 back on track when they head to Israel this afternoon and Fabio Fognini can continue his run in Miami.
Austria head to Israel in Euro 2020 qualifying today and they need to get something after a 1-0 defeat to Poland at home in their opener.
Israel played out a 1-1 draw with Slovenia and are unbeaten in their last four at home, but the best team they’ve faced in that run has been Scotland, ranked 40th by FIFA in the world, and Austria may be a step up in class too far.
The visitors do tend to struggle for clean sheets on their travels with just two in their last nine games, while Israel have scored in each of their last five home games.
The hosts should be able to find a way through, but Austria should have enough quality to secure the win as they bid to get their qualification campaign back on track.
Italy’s Fabio Fognini ended a five-match losing run with his victory over Guido Andreozzi in his Miami Open opener and can back that up by downing Roberto Bautista Agut this afternoon.
Fognini has been in poor form since the Australian Open but that win over Andreozzi may have been the catalyst he needs to kick-start his season.
Bautista-Agut has also struggled since Melbourne with three wins and three defeats, including a surprise loss to Yoshihito Nishioka at Indian Wells.
This clash looks a good chance for Fognini to try and build up a bit of momentum as he has an excellent record against Bautista Agut with five wins in their last six meetings, and he has won four of their five meetings on hardcourts on the ATP Tour.
