Sheffield United had to watch on over the weekend as automatic promotion rivals Norwich and Leeds picked up wins.
The Blades make the short trip to city rivals Sheffield Wednesday for the Steel City derby on Monday and can maintain their own push to go up by landing a fourth straight win.
The last time United went to Hillsborough they claimed a 4-2 victory but both meetings since have ended 0-0 at Bramall Lane.
Chris Wilder’s men are in fine form at present as they are unbeaten in six and have won their last three in a row, including a 1-0 win at promotion rivals West Brom last time out.
Wednesday are also unbeaten in six games since Steve Bruce took charge but none of those matches have been against a team in the top half of the Championship table and the Blades could be a step up in class too far.
United striker Gary Madine has hardly set the world alight since making the move to South Yorkshire from Cardiff in January, with a double in a 4-0 win over Reading his only goals in seven appearances so far.
However, players have a habit of scoring against their former clubs and Madine is a proven scorer at this level, having enjoyed a particularly productive spell with a poor Bolton side prior to his switch to Cardiff.
