Super League winners Wigan Warriors come up against NRL champions Sydney Roosters in the World Club Challenge on Sunday.
Wigan are the most successful team in the history of the competition with four wins and three further appearances in the final, while Sydney boast a perfect record with three wins in as many attempts.
Wigan have home advantage as the match will take place at the DW Stadium and they have also played two competitive games in the build-up to this showdown, while the Roosters are gearing up for their first real outing since seeing off Melbourne Storm in their NRL Grand Final at the end of September.
However, Wigan are a team in transition following the departures of coach Shaun Wane and star man Sam Tomkins and this showdown with the NRL’s finest could be a step too far.
Sydney Roosters -8.5 handicap @ 5/6
The Roosters finished at the top of the NRL ladder last season before going on to win the Premiership and coach Trent Robinson has led them to World Club Challenge success before back in 2014.
Wigan were the last Super League team to take the title in 2017 but that was arguably a much stronger Warriors outfit.
Australian sides have dominated the competition in recent times with five wins in the last six years, and all bar one of those victories came by a margin of at least 22 points – making the -8.5 on offer for the Roosters in the handicap market look fairly modest.
Sydney Roosters first half -4.5 points @ 1/1
Another option is the 1/1 on offer for the Roosters to be leading by at least five points by the end of the first half.
Wigan do tend to be strong starters but Sydney should have too much quality and can be ahead by at least one converted try at the interval.
