Wigan and Leeds looking to bounce back

The 2019 Super League season got underway last week and the 12 teams did not disappoint, with some thrilling rugby on display up and down the country.

The attention now turns to week two as some of the league’s ‘big boys’ try to climb away from the bottom of the table.

Tigers -2.5 handicap @ 4/5

Daryl Powell’s Castleford side travel to the KCOM Stadium on Thursday and they will be without half-back Jamie Ellis. The Tigers confirmed he will miss six months of action due to a knee injury but that should not dampen their spirits too much.

Cas eased to a 20-4 win over Catalans Dragons last week and they will fancy their chances against a Hull FC side who lost to neighbours Hull KR.

Wigan -4.5 first-half handicap @ 5/6

Nobody would have predicted Wigan and Leeds would be 11th and 12th after the first week, but defeats to St Helens and Warrington Wolves have put the pressure on.

Wigan showed signs of potential in the 22-12 defeat to the Saints while Leeds looked extremely flat against the Wire.

Catalans -12.5 handicap @ 4/5

While the Dragons slipped to a defeat last week, there is still plenty expected of Steve McNamara’s men.

The former England coach admits he wants to see more fight from his team and he should get that against a struggling Huddersfield side on Saturday.

Giants coach Simon Woolford has already confirmed the majority of his injured players will miss the game, so it promises to be a tough trip for the West Yorkshire side.
