The Big Bash League opens up its eighth season with the Perth Scorchers hoping to make it four triumphs in the last six years.
Last season the Scorchers were the team to beat during the regular season, only to be thrashed by the Hobart Hurricanes in the semi-finals, with the Adelaide Strikers eventually being crowned champions.
Adelaide Strikers to win Big Bash @ 4/1
The Strikers appear well set to mount a strong defence of their title despite captain Travis Head being absent for the start of the tournament after becoming a success in the Australia middle-order.
A large factor in whether or not they can go all the way again will be the form of outstanding Afghan leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who was the joint highest wicket-taker 12 months ago.
Perth Scorchers to win Big Bash @ 4/1
The Scorchers will no doubt be desperate to make up for the disappointment of last season and in skipper Mitchell Marsh they have an all-rounder with plenty to prove after losing his place in the national team.
They also have plenty of bowling power in the shape of Baggy Greens internationals Jhye Richardson and Andrew Tye although injuries to Jason Behrendorff and Nathan Coulter-Nile could hamper their chances.
England limited-over all-rounder David Willey will also be expected to deliver and his big hitting up the order is likely to be a useful option.
Brisbane Heat to win Big Bash @ 5/1
The Heat struggled badly last season and finished in seventh place in the standings, but they have rejigged their squad since then and appear to have a real chance of mounting a much stronger challenge.
Much will depend on whether or not Bash Brothers Chris Lynn and Brendon McCullum can fire at the top of the order, while teenage Afghan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman could prove to be a shrewd addition.
Hobart Hurricanes to win Big Bash @ 7/1
The Hurricanes will be worth watching as they have the leading runscorer in the competition from last season, D’Arcy Short, while there will be plenty of attention focused on all-rounder Jofra Archer, who is now well and truly on the radar of the England selectors.
