Fury can triumph in LA

Something has got to give at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Saturday night when Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury put their unbeaten records on the line in a heavyweight world title fight.

Wilder is making an eighth defence of his WBC title, while Fury is bidding to become a world champion for the second time.

The American has an incredible knockout record, with 39 of his 40 victories coming inside the distance, while Fury has 19 KOs from his 27 bouts so far.

The challenger has fought just twice since claiming the WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF titles by outpointing Wladimir Klitschko in Dusseldorf three years ago, but looks to be back in top shape and seems good value to secure a 30th career win.

Fury by Decision or Technical Decision @ 2/1

Fury made Klitschko – a technically superb heavyweight – look average in his famous victory and, if he is anywhere near that level on Saturday night, he should have too much quality for Wilder.

The WBC holder boasts incredible power but in terms of his skill set, he is a little limited. Wilder found himself in real trouble in his last outing against Cuba’s Luis Ortiz, but managed to land a killer blow late on to retain his title.

Fury has excellent movement and footwork so should be able to avoid Wilder’s big shots. The Briton has the superior jab and, if he sticks to his game plan and keeps his focus, as he did against Klitschko, he will be able to get the decision from the judges.

Fury to be knocked down and win @ 13/2

Fury has been knocked down and gone on to win twice in his career against Neven Pajkic and Steve Cunningham.

Wilder throws some unorthodox punches at times and, if he does manage to land with one of his trademark over-the-top ‘windmill’ shots, there is a chance Fury could go down.

Fury is probably too slick to get caught like that but has shown he can recover if he does lose his concentration for a moment.

If you are looking for an outside bet in this contest, Fury to get knocked down and win may well be the way to go.
