No silver lining for ROI in Denmark

Denmark entertain Republic of Ireland in the Nations League this evening in a dead-rubber fixture, as the Danes have already secured their promotion and the visitors have been condemned to League C.

Denmark -1 @ 7/4

There may be nothing riding on this fixture but Denmark boss Age Hareide has confirmed he will name a strong side regardless, having announced Christian Eriksen will start as he risks a potential club v country row with Tottenham.

The ROI looked poor in a goalless stalemate with neighbours Northern Ireland in a friendly last week and have been disappointing on the road recently. Martin O’Neill’s men haven’t won on their travels in over a year and have lost three of their five games during that time.

The hosts haven’t lost on Danish soil since 2016 and have won their two most recent games 2-0, and they can beat a one goal handicap when they welcome the Irish to Aarhus in this match-up.

Bulgaria win and both teams to score @ 3/1

Bulgaria need to better Norway’s result in Cyprus when they host Slovenia to give themselves a chance of earning promotion to League C.

The visitors need a win too as they bid to avoid the drop and I’m expecting a few goals in Sofia.

Slovenia may be winless in five but they have at least scored in four of those games, while Bulgaria have just two clean sheets in their last seven at home and a victory for the hosts with both teams scoring appeals at a big price in this Nations League tie.
