Alexander Zverev and Roger Federer meet in the ATP World Tour Finals this afternoon and the world number five may be able to pull off a shock.
Zverev beat both Marin Cilic and John Isner in the round robin stage and gave Novak Djokovic a good contest in their first set before falling to what looked a one-sided 2-0 loss.
Federer hasn’t been at his best in London and lost out to Kei Nishikori in his opener before fighting back with wins over Dominic Thiem and Kevin Anderson.
Zverev looks the fresher of the two players after a long season and the 21-year-old has a fairly good record against the Swiss veteran. The German trails Federer 3-2 but just about holds the edge on hardcourts, winning three sets to Federer’s two across two meetings.
This should be a close encounter and at a big price Zverev looks worth the risk in this semi-final match-up.
Boston Celtics seem to have found their groove after a fairly uninspiring start to the season and host Utah Jazz overnight following an eye-catching win over Toronto Raptors.
The Jazz have a winning record overall on the road at 5-4 – but those four defeats have come in their last five games and the Celtics should have far too much quality for Utah.
Boston are 10/19 in the moneyline and a -4.5 handicap looks beatable for the hosts in the spread at a more tempting 10/11.
