Chelsea won at Liverpool in the EFL Cup in midweek but Jurgen Klopp’s men can turn the tables when the two sides meet at Stamford Bridge in the late Premier League kick off today.
Klopp and counterpart Maurizio Sarri both made a number of changes for the cup clash and will revert to their best starting line-ups for this high quality battle.
Chelsea have impressed this season but aside from a 3-2 win over Arsenal in August they are yet to really secure a truly eye-catching result, and showed weaknesses in attack in their last league game as they were held to a 0-0 draw by West Ham.
In contrast Liverpool have been exceptional, with wins over the likes of Spurs and Paris Saint-Germain they have demonstrated they can match any opponent and at a big price the Reds look good value.
Bayern Munich’s defeat at Hertha Berlin yesterday ensures BVB have a chance to claim top spot in the Bundesliga with a win at Bayer Leverkusen and it is an opportunity I expect them to grab with both hands.
Dortmund have hit some real form and dismantled Nurnberg 7-0 in their last fixture. Bayer go into this one on the back of a three-game winning run of their own but all of those wins came against sides you’d expect them to beat – and they were lucky to beat Fortuna Dusseldorf last time out.
The hosts should be able to come up with a goal, but BVB’s slick attack will be able to outgun them regardless at the BayArena.
