Glovers eye up Villa shock

A host of Championship clubs will be hoping to avoid shocks in the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening, with Aston Villa facing a testing trip to Yeovil Town.

Perennial giantkillers Yeovil have a catalogue of higher division scalps to their name over the years and are even more of a daunting prospect at their own Huish Park.

Yeovil to qualify @ 5/2

Town have started their League Two campaign with a loss and a draw, but that will count for little when the Villans arrive in town, even if the Midlanders have won two out of two in the Championship and scored three goals in both of those games.

It would only offer a small return, but both teams to score in the game in Somerset at 10/11 is also something to consider, as is the second half to contain the most goals at 21/20.

Ipswich Town are another Championship outfit facing a long trek to the West Country, with Exeter their destination.

Exeter to win 2-1 in 90 minutes @ 2/1

The Grecians have made a perfect start to their league season by claiming wins over Carlisle United and Morecambe and in Jonathan Forte and Jayden Stockley have a front two who are sure to ask questions of the Tractor Boys’ backline.

That should be especially true as Town have drawn one and lost one in the Championship and have yet to get going under new manager Paul Hurst.

Another Championship team facing a potential banana skin are Blackburn Rovers, who head north to Brunton Park to take on Carlisle.

The Cumbrians, like Yeovil, have only taken one point from their opening two games of the League Two season, but they have a recent success against Rovers to draw inspiration from.

Carlisle v Blackburn decided on penalties @ 7/1

Carlisle won a penalty shootout against Blackburn at the same stage of the competition five years ago, after an action-packed clash had ended 3-3 after extra-time.

And this tie looks like one which could go all the way again, with the hosts having made it to at least round two in each of the last three seasons.

Finally, Leeds United have made a flying start in the Championship by seeing off Stoke City and Derby County and scoring seven goal in the process.

They play host to Bolton Wanderers and are a tempting 5/2 to keep up their prolific form by scoring over 2.5 goals against the Trotters.
