John Isner’s 2-1 success over Ryan Harrison in the Atlanta Open final capped off a good week of tennis bets last night and now the focus turns to the hard-courts of Washington for another US Open warm-up event.
Vasek Pospisil to beat Alex De Minaur @ 13/10
Experiences campaigner Pospisil takes on rising star De Minaur at the Washington Open this evening and the Canadian should be able to come out on top.
De Minaur went out in the second round of the Atlanta Open to eventual champion Isner, while Pospisil hasn’t played since completing the grass-court campaign in Rhode Island after Wimbledon.
The 28-year-old did compete on hard-courts in South Korea in May however, winning nine matches and losing three, so the transition from grass shouldn’t be too difficult for Pospisil as he looks to build some form going into the final Grand Slam of the year.
Pospisil has 32 wins and 10 defeats on hard-courts in total this year and at 13/10 looks good value to see off De Minaur. The 19-year-old Australian has picked up some impressive results in 2018 but could struggle against the more experienced Pospisil at the Washington Open.
Andy Murray to beat Mackenzie McDonald 2-0 @ 20/21
Former world number one Murray makes his long-awaited comeback in one of the late matches against American McDonald, with the contest set to begin at midnight BST.
Murray attempted to return before Wimbledon and won one of his three matches, all against quality opposition, before deciding he wasn’t ready for SW19.
The three-time major winner wouldn’t force himself to return if he didn’t feel fully ready and this could be a good opportunity to back him to beat McDonald 2-0 at a decent price.
In top form, the Briton would be far too strong for the 23-year-old and despite the fact he is making a return following an incredibly long absence it could be worth backing Murray to come through this test in two sets.
