Romania entertain Finland in an international friendly today and I’m expecting the home side to secure a comfortable win.
Romania with a -1 handicap 11/5
Neither side managed to qualify for the World Cup in Russia but Romania head into this fixture in good form regardless, having managed four wins in five games since their qualification bid came to an end.
The hosts recorded an impressive 3-2 win over Chile last week and prior to that they proved to strong for Sweden with a 1-0 success back in March.
Finland are unbeaten in their last four friendly games but they haven’t faced anyone of Romania’s quality during that time, having claimed wins over Malta, Jordan and Estonia as well as a draw with Macedonia.
Romania have only failed to win one of their last seven home games, a 3-0 defeat to the Netherlands, and they should be able to see off Finland with room to spare this evening.
Sloane Stephens to beat Daria Kasatkina 2-1 29/10
The American impressed in her victory over Anett Konatveit last time out and can back that win up with another success today. Kasatkina is contesting her first ever Grand Slam quarter-final but after seeing off Caroline Wozniacki in the previous round the 14th seed should be in confident mood.
This could be a really close tie but Stephens has the big game experience and I’m expecting her to edge this one and claim the win in three sets.
