Marin Cilic and Fabio Fognini meet in the fourth round of the French Open today and I’m expecting the Croat to get the job done in straight sets.
Cilic to win 3-0 7/4
Cilic, the third seed in Paris, has dropped just one set in his three games so far and brushed Steve Johnson aside in his last match in just one hour and 37 minutes.
Fognini powered through his first two matches but then was taken to five sets by Kyle Edmund in a mammoth three hours and 36 minutes encounter.
Had the Italian not played such a lengthy match I’d be more inclined to give him a chance, but against a big server like Cilic any fatigue he is suffering from that third round tie will be magnified.
Cilic leads the head-to-head 3-1 and he hasn’t lost to Fognini for nine years. The 29-year-old has been in good form on clay with six wins in his last seven matches, losing only to Alexander Zverev during that time, and he can see off Fognini in three sets in the French Open today.
Slovakia to beat Morocco 39/20
African nation Morocco face Slovakia in Geneva, Switzerland, in a World Cup warm-up fixture today and the European side may be able to squeeze a win out of this clash.
Slovakia failed to qualify for the tournament in Russia but head into this friendly in good form and managed a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands last week.
Morocco are unbeaten in 16 and will be keen to protect that record ahead of the World Cup, but that tournament will be firmly in their thoughts and their squad won’t want to take too many risks with their opening fixture just 11 days away.
Slovakia have plenty of quality in their squad and at 39/20 look well worth the risk to claim a victory in this friendly fixture.
