Super League Magic Weekend – Tackles on the Toon

It is that time of year again and this weekend’s rugby league action promises to deliver plenty of quality as all 12 teams head to Newcastle for Magic Weekend.

Six games across two days will take place at St James’ Park as teams look to wow the neutral supporters in attendance.

Ben Barba to score LAST try @ 6/1

The opening game sees Widnes take on league-leaders St Helens and Justin Holbrook’s men are the heavy favourites ahead of kick off.

Widnes will make five changes for the game, while Saints’ Kyle Amor is suspended. Matty Lees comes in for the forward but all eyes will be on Ben Barba.

The former NRL full-back cannot stop scoring at the minute and he could even open the scoring at the same odds.

Castleford Tigers to beat Leeds Rhinos @ 27/20

The two Yorkshire rivals will meet during the final game on Saturday and Castleford look good value at 27/20. There is no doubt that they do not look the same team without Zak Hardaker, while Luke Gale’s injury is a hammer blow to their title chances.

However, Leeds’ pack is decimated by injury and Anthony Mullally was given a ban earlier this week. Several key players are struggling to be fully fit and now could be the time to strike for Cas.

Catalans Dragons to beat Salford @ 20/21

While the French side will need to travel to the UK once again, Salford’s poor form cannot be ignored in this game. They have lost their last three matches and were dumped out of the Challenge Cup last weekend.

Steve McNamara’s men have won their last two Challenge Cup games and they also recorded a morale-boosting win over Hull FC at the end of April.
