Hammers to further hamper Stoke hopes

Monday sees the latest batch of Premier League action rounded off as West Ham welcome Stoke City to the London Stadium.

The Hammers seem to have found their form at the right time, claiming four points from their last two outings to move away from the relegation zone.

In contrast, the Potters have won just once this year and currently sit 19th, six points from safety and with games running out.

Put simply, a win for West Ham pretty much makes them safe, while a Potters’ triumph gets their survival fight back on track.

The Hammers went into last month’s international break in turmoil, with the fans staging a now infamous demonstration against the board during March’s 3-0 home defeat to Burnley.

A win over Southampton and a draw against Chelsea has helped lift David Moyes‘ men to 15th and they have lost only two of their last 10 home league games.

Former Potter Marko Arnautovic enjoyed scoring when the pair met in December and he is 13/10 to net at anytime, with his side the 1/1 favourites to take the points after triumphing 3-0 in the reverse fixture.

Stoke appear in big trouble and Paul Lambert‘s arrival in January has done little to halt their slide, with the Scot winning only one of his ten games in charge.

They do have a good record at West Ham though, avoiding defeat in their last five meetings in east London, the last three of those being draws.

That outcome is available at 5/2, while what would prove to be a crucial away win is priced at 3/1.

Defensive deficiencies are an issue for the Potters though and they have conceded at least twice in their last four.

However, encouraging displays in defeats to Arsenal and Tottenham have given them a bit of extra confidence and they were unlucky not to get something from both of those games.

Perhaps it is nearly but not quite results like these that illustrate their season and it could be another good night for West Ham.

After being by far the better team in their first meeting, and considering their recent form, it could be a repeat win to zero (21/10) for the increasingly happy Hammers.
