Joshua can maintain perfect run against Parker

Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker face off in a huge heavyweight unification battle in Cardiff on Saturday as both put their unbeaten records on the line.

Joshua, who brings the WBA, IBF and IBO titles to the table, has a perfect record with 20 wins inside the distance.

WBO king Parker edges it in total number of fights with 24, although he has needed the judges on six occasions with 18 of his victories coming by way of knockout.

Joshua is the heavy favourite at 1/6, while Parker is 17/4 to claim the victory.

If you do fancy a Parker win those odds appeal regardless but for a bit more value the New Zealander is 15/2 for a KO, TKO or Disqualification or 14/1 to win on points – which looks a good price considering his hand speed for a heavyweight.

The real value call could well be the 27/20 on offer for over 8.5 rounds given neither fighter has ever been stopped. Joshua was taken to 10 rounds by Carlos Takam in his last outing and he is the only fighter both have faced, with Parker securing a decision win in his clash with the 37-year-old.

Parker does tend to soak up a few punches and he has been caught a couple of times in his career – but never has he really been wobbled – and with that in mind over 8.5 rounds does seem a real possibility in this heavyweight battle.

While Parker has never really been rocked, Joshua has – having been sent to the canvas by Wladimir Klitschko in 2016 and surviving a scare against Dillian Whyte in a grudge match a year earlier. The Briton, of course, went on to win both fights but the 6/1 on Joshua to be knocked down or the 8/1 on the home fighter to be knocked down and win look good bets for anyone looking for an outside call on Saturday night.

Joshua is 1/4 to make it 21 wins inside the distance in as many fights by securing a KO, TKO or Disqualification victory but it could be worth looking at the group round betting market if you are backing an AJ stoppage.

Since stepping up to world level the Londoner has found it harder to break opponents down and has been taken into the later rounds in his two most recent outings. Klitschko survived until the 11th and Takam the 10th, with Joshua available at 15/4 to win in rounds 9-12 in what looks to be the pick of the bets for this heavyweight showdown.
