City to move a step closer to title

Everton were the only team to avoid defeat against Manchester City in the first half of the Premier League season but Pep Guardiola’s side can gain revenge for that aberration on Saturday.

City needed a late Raheem Sterling goal to salvage a draw at Goodison Park in the second game of the season in August before they embarked on an amazing 18-match winning run that was only ended by Crystal Palace on New Year’s Eve.

Sterling is 27/20 to score at any time this weekend while City are 29/10 to beat Sam Allardyce’s team by a two-goal margin.

Crystal Palace face Liverpool at Selhurst Park a fortnight after recording a crucial 2-0 victory at Huddersfield Town. The fixture brings back memories of the incredible 3-3 draw almost four years ago – a result that went a long way to stopping the Reds winning the Premier League title.

Liverpool have won on each of their last two visits to Selhurst Park though and are 10/19 to triumph again on Saturday, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 16/1 good value to score the first goal.

Mark Hughes takes charge of Southampton for the first time in the Premier League and could have Charlie Austin back for the visit to troubled West Ham. It may not be the best result for either team but a draw at 11/5 seems the most likely option in the capital.

Brighton have only lost three of their 15 home league games this term and can extend that fine record by beating Leicester City 1-0 at 7/1, while Manchester United may struggle to break Swansea City down but should eventually defeat Carlos Carvalhal’s team by a two-goal margin at 53/20.

Newcastle United have only lost one of their last six matches and face a Huddersfield side that lost a crucial relegation six-pointer to Crystal Palace in their last encounter. Now could be the time to back the Terriers at 7/5 to be relegated while Newcastle are 43/20 to score in both halves on Saturday.

Finally draws seem the best bet at Vicarage Road where Watford take on Bournemouth (12/5) and The Hawthorns where West Brom entertain Burnley (21/10).
