Napoli take on Germany’s RB Leipzig in the Europa League this evening and the Italian outfit should be able to claim a victory.
I’m anticipating a few changes for the Partenopei as they will almost certainly prioritise their Scudetto push, despite claims this week that both competitions are as important, but they should still have enough quality to claim a first leg win over the German side.
Leipzig have struggled on their travels of late with four defeats in their last eight games away from home. The Bundesliga club did manage a 4-1 win over Monaco in their final Champions League away game but lost their other away matches, and Napoli has been a tough hunting ground this season.
The Serie A side have won 12 of their 17 home matches so far and only Manchester City have managed to beat them at the San Paolo in Europe.
Napoli host lowly Spal in Serie A on Sunday so boss Maurizio Sarri doesn’t necessarily need to rest his key men but even if he does opt for a reshuffle the hosts should have enough about them to claim a first leg advantage.
The Italian side look good value at 21/20 in the standard match betting market but they may be able to claim a convincing win and a home win with a -1 handicap at 13/5 is my top bet in this match-up. Leipzig will want an away goal and if they push forward I’m expecting Napoli to be able to catch them on the break.
