Leicester City host Everton today in an intriguing Premier League battle between two sides who have recently sacked their respective managers.
Craig Shakespeare was the first to go and the Foxes have now replaced him with ex-Southampton chief Claude Puel, while the visitors go into the game with David Unsworth at the helm as caretaker after Ronald Koeman’s dismissal just six days ago.
With managerial changes at both clubs I’d be tempted to leave the match well alone as you never quite know how a team will react. That said, Leicester may be the side who benefit more from the ‘new manager bounce’ – as Unsworth has been promoted from within rather than being a fresh face – and Everton have been so poor on the road it is hard to hard to ignore the hosts.
The Foxes have won two in a row since Shakespeare’s departure and now have Puel in charge for his first game. Leicester’s home form has also been good all season despite their lowly league position as their only defeats have come against top quality opposition in Chelsea and Liverpool.
With all that in mind there are a few good reasons to back Leicester and they look good value today. A home win is 23/20, and with a bigger return the 3/1 on a Leicester win with both teams to score is my top bet for today.
Leicester are without key man at the back Robert Huth and they’ve managed only one clean sheet in their last five outings, while Everton have scored at least once in each of their last four matches despite suffering three defeats.
