The Champions League returns this week after the international break and Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig need a win over Porto to kick start their campaign in Europe.
There is a Premier League game this evening as Leicester host West Brom and I’m expecting a home win at 20/21 but as there are plenty of European games over the next few days I’ll focus on those.
Leipzig managed a credible draw with Monaco in their Champions League opener before a 2-0 defeat at Besiktas, leaving them in third spot in the Group G table with one point.
Portugal’s Porto have been a tough side to judge as they lost at home to Besiktas in a game they would have been expected to win before going on to hammer Monaco 3-0.
The visitors have the greater European experience but Leipzig’s young and talented side have shown they are no one-season wonder after another fine start domestically. The German outfit claimed an impressive win at league leaders Borussia Dortmund over the weekend, and that may have been just the confidence booster they needed ahead of tomorrow’s European night at the Red Bull Arena.
Leipzig have been ahead at the break and gone on to win in each of their previous three Bundesliga games and can carry that form into Europe when Porto visit on Tuesday.
