There are some key fixtures taking place in Europe this evening and Werder Bremen’s trip to Cologne in the Bundesliga has caught my eye.
In the Premier League, Tottenham head to West Ham and a win for the visitors looks to be on the cards. I could make a case for an away win with a -1 handicap at 1/1 or a Spurs win to zero at 21/20 but there is more value in backing Bremen this evening so I’ll keep my focus on Germany today.
The Bundesliga is incredibly tight going into the final three games with just five points separating Hertha Berlin in fifth and Eintracht Frankfurt in 11th in the battle for Europa League qualification.
Both Cologne and Bremen are involved in that particular tussle, with Bremen holding the sixth and final European spot and Cologne three points further back in eighth.
Cologne were fantastic at the RheinEnergieStadion earlier in the campaign but of late their form has tailed off, with just two wins in their last five games. Overall the hosts are winless in four and they’ve only managed four wins in their last 20 competitive games.
In contrast Bremen are flying after a tough start to the season and they head into tonight’s game seeking to extend a 10-match unbeaten run. The visitors have won nine of those 10 games and away from home they’ve managed four wins in their last six.
My top bet for this Bundesliga clash is a straightforward Bremen win at 7/4 but if you’re looking for a bigger price the 3/1 on an away win with both teams to score appeals. Cologne may have suffered a dip in form but they’ve still been scoring and only Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich have managed to keep clean sheets against them in their last 11 Bundesliga outings.
