West Ham host Swansea in a huge fixture at the foot of the table today in a clash neither side can afford to lose.
The Hammers appeared to be on the verge of safety just a few weeks ago but now they sit just five points above the bottom three, and defeat would leave them at best three points clear depending on results elsewhere as the Swans are the side currently in 18th place.
West Ham head into this key clash in woeful form after five consecutive defeats and seven games without a win and the situation doesn’t look much better for Swansea, who are without a win in four outings themselves.
The pressure will be on both of these sides in this clash and, perhaps fortunately for bosses Slaven Bilic and Paul Clement, form often counts for very little in these kinds of fixtures. As such it can be down to who has the greater heart and desire, and based on recent performances I’m going to side with the Swans.
West Ham were well beaten at Arsenal last time out, let a lead slip away against Hull and couldn’t cope with Leicester at home. Swansea performed well at home to Spurs last weekend but collapsed at the very end to slip to a 3-1 defeat, and if they can replicate that display against the Hammers they may get a reward this weekend.
There isn’t a great deal to choose between the two but the value is with Swansea at 51/20 and as both sides have struggled for clean sheets a Swans win with both teams to score at 17/4 is my top bet for today.
In another Three o’clock kick-off Liverpool head to Stoke and the away side should be able to pick up three points as they continue their top four push. Jurgen Klopp’s men have been in mixed form away but they have a good record against the Potters, winning each of the last two meetings 4-1.
Stoke have lost three in a row and Liverpool, who are unbeaten in five, can claim a victory with a bit of breathing space by beating a -1 handicap at 5/2 on Saturday.
