Chelsea head to West Ham this evening and the league leaders can restore their 10 point advantage at the top of the standings with another three points this evening.
The Hammers struggled at the start of the season in their new London Stadium home but they seem to have overcome those issues. However, against sides in the top six they have struggled and are yet to pick up a point in three Premier League attempts, going down 5-1 to Arsenal, 2-0 to Manchester United and 4-0 to Manchester City.
Slaven Bilic’s men did record a victory over Chelsea in the EFL Cup earlier in the campaign at the London Stadium, although counterpart Antonio Conte made a few changes that day as Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and Pedro were all omitted from the starting line-up.
The visitors have managed seven wins in their last 10 away games and they should be able to record another victory this evening. West Ham are also likely to be without key forward Andy Carroll yet again, he is rated as doubtful, and with Michail Antonio suspended their attacking options have been limited.
Chelsea are 4/7 in the standard match betting market but I’m going to take the 5/4 on offer for a Chelsea/Chelsea result in the half-time/full-time market as my top bet for this match up. West Ham have conceded first in their four most recent Premier League matches and Chelsea have a habit of grabbing early goals, having found the net in the first half in their previous six league games.
All three of West Ham’s defeats at home against top six sides have been by a two goal margin or more so the 6/4 on an away win with a -1 handicap is another option, and a 3-0 Chelsea win at 21/2 also appeals in the correct score market.
