Borussia Dortmund head to Mainz today and they should be able to pick up a much-needed three points in their battle to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
BVB have been handed a welcome boost as star man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is back in contention after Gabon’s early African Cup of Nations exit, although they still picked up a win at Werder Bremen last time out in his absence.
Mainz held high-flying FC Koln to a draw last weekend but they may struggle to keep Dortmund’s in-form attack quiet today and I’m expecting a few goals this afternoon.
BVB haven’t managed a clean sheet in their previous seven competitive matches and as Mainz have only failed to score once at home this season an away win with both teams to score at 33/20 is my top bet for this match-up.
In Spain, Sevilla are still very much involved in the title battle as they sit in second spot ahead of today’s trip to Espanyol.
Los Rojiblancos’ results on the road have been key to their La Liga challenge and they should be able to pick up another three points in Barcelona.
Espanyol are unbeaten in their last four home games but they have been against opponents they probably would have been expected to beat; picking up wins over Leganes, Sporting Gijon and Granada and a draw with Deportivo La Coruna.
Sevilla should provide a much sterner test as they head into the match having won five and drawn three of their 10 away La Liga games so far.
Sevilla won the reverse fixture 6-4 earlier in the season and while we may not see that kind of spectacle again this afternoon, we should see another win for the Andalusian outfit, which pays out at 23/20.
