Premier League Preview – Gunners to edge out stubborn Palace

Arsenal will be confident of starting 2017 with a bang when they host Crystal Palace in Sunday’s game.

The Gunners had to rely on a late goal from Olivier Giroud to seal a 1-0 Boxing Day win over West Brom and although they could come across a similarly stubborn outfit on New Year’s Day, they will expect to triumph.

New Palace boss Sam Allardyce got off to a decent start when his side drew 1-1 at Watford and is sure to have a game plan to try and stop the north Londoners.

Arsenal head into the weekend fourth in the standings and there is no reason why they should not finish this round of fixtures still in the Champions League places, having avoided defeat in their last eight against Sunday’s opponents.

ComeOn! are offering 4/13 for a fourth straight win at home while a repeat of Arsene Wenger‘s men to be drawing at half-time before going on to win, as they have in their last three at the Emirates, is 11/4.

Giroud made the most of his first Premier League start of the season to score the decisive goal against the Baggies and is 3/1 to break the deadlock, with team-mate Alexis Sanchez leading the market at 14/5.

Palace will be looking to mimic West Brom’s impressive defensive display at the Emirates and new boss Allardyce is a man who has a history of making life tough for Wenger.

An away win is 9/1, with the draw 9/2, but the visitors’ task will be hampered by the absence of defender Damien Delaney through suspension. With usual understudy James Tomkins also unavailable, it is unclear who will be the Irishman’s replacement.

Taking their chances on the break will be key for Palace and Wilfried Zaha, who is a tempting 19/1 with ComeOn! to net anytime, will be hoping to once again produce a performance against one of the big boys.

Arsenal’s class should eventually prevail and a home win with under 3.5 goals is a decent 11/10 while the same price is also available for a Gunners victory to zero.
