Sunderland have just one point from six games so far and suffered a demoralising loss against Crystal Palace last weekend.
The Black Cats managed to throw away a 2-0 lead as they slumped to a last-gasp defeat and manager David Moyes will want a reaction when they host West Brom later today.
The Baggies however, are a tough team to demand a reaction against. Manager Tony Pulis will seek to keep the game as tight as possible and with Salomon Rondon and summer buy Nacer Chadli in form, Albion could just edge this potential relegation six-pointer.
Rondon has three goals to his name already this season and he can be backed at 2/1 to grab a goal at anytime at the Stadium of Light this afternoon.
Sunderland are also without Adnan Januzaj and Steven Pienaar, and other than Jermain Defoe their attack looks incredibly lightweight at present. Defoe did get a double against Palace but both of those goals came from defensive errors rather than attacking guile, and such gifts are unlikely to come his way against West Brom.
A win for West Brom is 43/20 and that’s my top bet for this Premier League clash but 1-0 and 2-0 both appeal at 7/1 and 12/1 respectively. If the Baggies are to claim a win it probably won’t be by a huge margin and it is hard to see Sunderland scoring, with Pulis’ men 33/10 to win to zero if you are looking for a safer option.
