Manchester City are all but through to the Champions League group stages after a 5-0 rout of Steaua Bucharest in Romania, making tonight’s game somewhat of a formality for the Premier League club.
However, with Pep Guardiola still getting his players used to his methods he will probably name a strong starting line-up for the second leg regardless and as such we can expect another big win.
Sergio Aguero has begun the season in sensational form with six goals in three outings in all competitions and if he starts on Wednesday he’s almost guaranteed to find the back of the net. Last season, Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri quite aptly described the forward as a “currency” and the top bet for this evening is Aguero to score the first goal at 9/4.
Steaua suffered a first-half capitulation in the first leg and they could have been 4-0 down at the break if Aguero hadn’t missed two penalties. If the hosts get off the mark quickly it may be a similar scenario in the reverse fixture in Manchester. City are 10/17 to be leading at half-time but the 19/10 on offer for the hosts to be winning with a -1 handicap at the break is also an attractive proposition.
Confidence is not high that the visitors will be able to get a goal themselves but the most likely contender is probably 23-year-old Romania international Nicolae Stanciu, who is 6/1 to score at anytime.
