Manchester United host Southampton on Friday night and Jose Mourinho’s men should be able to record a fairly comfortable victory on home soil.
Mourinho’s reign began in earnest with a 3-1 win at Bournemouth last weekend as Zlatan Ibrahimovic opened his account for his new club.
Saints kicked off with a 1-1 draw against Watford at home but had to fight back after going behind early on.
It was hardly a convincing display from the St Mary’s outfit as they struggled to create any chances and lacked any kind of cutting edge until summer buy Nathan Redmond’s second-half equaliser.
Chances could well be at a premium for the visitors on Friday and United may be able to send their title rivals an early warning with a big win over Southampton.
With Ibrahimovic set to make his first appearances at Old Trafford, and with fellow summer arrivals Henrikh Mkhitaryan and the returning Paul Pogba also in contention, there will be a feel-good atmosphere among the home faithful.
If United make a strong start it could be a very long evening for Southampton in the North West.
