England take on Slovakia in their final Euro 2016 Group B match knowing a win will guarantee top spot and a draw would ensure a top-two finish.
Even a defeat may not spell the end of the tournament for Roy Hodgson’s men as four of the six teams who finish third in their respective groups will go through to the knockout stages.
For Slovakia, only a win would guarantee a position in the top two but a draw may also see them progress to the round-of-16 regardless with four points, as they would avoid bottom place having already beaten Russia 2-1 in their second match.
There have been calls for Hodgson to hand Jamie Vardy a starting spot after his goal as a substitute in the win over Wales. However, it remains to be seen if the manager will include the Leicester man in his starting 11 and Vardy himself says he can see the “logic” in using him as an impact substitute.
Slovakia’s danger man is without a doubt Marek Hamsik and his sensational finish against the Russians demonstrates his goalscoring ability.
Admittedly, the Napoli man may find chances harder to come by against England but at 17/4 to score at anytime he is worth some consideration ahead of this Group B clash in the final round of Euro 2016 group stages matches.
