England legend Emile Heskey returns to Anfield tomorrow with Bolton Wanderers, no doubt raring to show everyone that he’s still, in the words of Jamie Redknapp, ‘a top, top player’.
Heskey has long been an icon and inspiration to every average footballer on the planet, and proof that a lack of talent doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t make it.
At 37-years-old, Heskey is still going strong at the Macron Stadium and could initiate plenty of chaos in the Liverpool penalty area tomorrow. Here are three of his best and worst moments from his illustrious career.
The Worst of Heskey
Aussie fans never truly understood the Heskey phenomenon, until this howler for Newcastle Jets…
… Whereas Aston Villa fans were more than familiar with these sorts of misses. Bet they wouldn’t mind him up front nowadays though!
Called upon when his country needed him most, Heskey gave it his best but his feet weren’t listening.
The Best of Heskey
An appearance on the Rod Hull & Emu Show – not even a World Cup goal against Denmark can top that, even though they did call him Emily repeatedly.
How about a goal in England’s most famous victory this side of the Millennium?
And, to prove the endearing class of the legend, a goal from December aged 37. We love you Emile!
