As of tomorrow evening, we will finally know who will be contesting the UEFA Champions League final on the 24th May in Lisbon. Here’s a preview to tonight’s crucial second-leg semi-finals.
Bayern Munich v Real Madrid
Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid have the upper-hand going into this second leg tie after a Karim Benzema goal gave them a 1-0 aggregate lead over Bayern Munich at the Santiago Bernabau last Wednesday. Despite Madrid being 1.58 favourites to qualify for the final, German teams and Bayern Munich especially are well-renowned for their home record, so it really is still all to play for in Bavaria.
Chelsea v Atletico Madrid
Wednesday sees Chelsea and Atletico contest their second leg affair at Stamford Bridge with things very much in the balance after a goal-less draw at the Vicente Calderón Stadium last week. In true Mourinho style, Chelsea frustrated Atletico with tactical nouse but will be hoping forgotten strikers such as Demba Ba and Fernando Torres can get them some much-needed goals tonight.
